John Harrison Surratt Jr. (April 13, 1844 – April 21, 1916) was an American Confederate spy who was accused of plotting with John Wilkes Booth to kidnap U.S. President Abraham Lincoln; he was also suspected of involvement in the Abraham Lincoln assassination.

28 de ago. de 2013 · Mary and John Surratt were a mother-son team who helped John Wilkes Booth assassinate Abraham Lincoln in 1865. They were executed for their crimes, while Booth escaped and was killed by federal troops.
In September, 1865, Surratt crossed the Atlantic, settling first in England, then later in Rome, where he joined the Papal Zouaves. While visiting Alexandria, Egypt in late 1866, Surratt was identified as the wanted Lincoln assassination conspirator and arrested.
John Surratt was the son of Mary Surratt, who hosted John Wilkes Booth and other plotters of the Lincoln assassination. He escaped capture for months after the crime, traveling across Canada, Europe and Egypt, before being arrested and hanged.
