Karl Barry Sharpless (born April 28, 1941) is an American stereochemist. He is a two-time Nobel laureate in Chemistry known for his work on stereoselective reactions and click chemistry.
Barry Sharpless is awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2022 for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry. He coined the concept of click chemistry, where molecular building blocks snap together quickly and efficiently, and developed the copper catalysed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction.
