Philip Arthur Larkin (Coventry, 9 de agosto de 1922-Hull, 2 de diciembre de 1985), conocido como Philip Larkin, fue un poeta, bibliotecario, novelista y crítico de jazz británico.
Philip Arthur Larkin CH CBE FRSL (9 August 1922 – 2 December 1985) was an English poet, novelist, and librarian. His first book of poetry, The North Ship, was published in 1945, followed by two novels, Jill (1946) and A Girl in Winter (1947).
He was one of post-war England’s most famous poets, and was commonly referred to as “England’s other Poet Laureate” until his death in 1985. Indeed, when the position of laureate became vacant in 1984, many poets and critics favored Larkin’s appointment, but Larkin preferred to avoid the limelight.

Poeta, novelista y crítico de jazz inglés, Philip Larkin nació en Coventry el 9 de agosto de 1922 y falleció en Hull el 2 de diciembre de 1985. Se le considera uno de los poetas ingleses más aclamados del siglo XX. Además de bajo su nombre escribió bajo el seudónimo Brunette Coleman.
Larkin fue bibliotecario de la Universidad de Hull a partir de 1955 y crítico de jazz del Daily Telegraph. Falleció en 1985, a los sesenta y tres años de edad, víctima de un cáncer de esófago. Está enterrado en el cementerio municipal de Cottingham.
