Hart was shivering, and his friend accompanied him to a hospital. At the Manhattan hospital, it was determined that Hart had developed pneumonia from exposure. On November 22, 1943, approximately four days after admission to the hospital, Hart died. Lorenz Hart is buried in Mount Zion Cemetery in Queens County, New York.

Lorenz Hart (2 de mayo de 1895, Nueva York - 22 de noviembre de 1943, Nueva York) fue un letrista estadounidense, descendiente de Heinrich Heine. Inicialmente trabajó como traductor de alemán, y en 1918 conoció a Richard Rodgers en la Universidad Columbia.
Rodgers and Hart were an American songwriting partnership between composer Richard Rodgers (1902–1979) and the lyricist Lorenz Hart (1895–1943). They worked together on 28 stage musicals and more than 500 songs from 1919 until Hart's death in 1943.
Already ill at the time, Hart developed pneumonia soon thereafter, and died on November 22. His songs, however, have lived on. In 1995 Hart’s centennial was celebrated from coast to coast, with special events in his hometown of “Manhattan,” and in 1999 Hart was commemorated on a U.S. postage stamp.
