  2. AFI Conservatory. The AFI Conservatory is a private non-profit graduate film school in the Hollywood Hills district of Los Angeles. Students (called "Fellows") learn from the masters in a collaborative, hands-on production environment with an emphasis on storytelling. The Conservatory is a program of the American Film Institute founded in 1969.

  3. The AFI Campus is located in the Hollywood hills overlooking Los Angeles. Our address is 2021 North Western Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90027. The AFI entrance is shared with the main entrance to Immaculate Heart High School and Middle School.

  4. The AFI Conservatory MFA Directing program teaches filmmakers how to work with actors, analyze scripts, develop a unique visual point of view, pitch projects and more. Learn more and apply.

  5. ONLINE APPLICATION. AFI uses the GradCAS application system. The application portal will be available starting on September 7, 2023 for Fall 2024 applicants. Please note applicants can only apply to a maximum of two programs. Applications for Fall 2024 are now closed for Cinematography, Directing, Editing, Producing and Screenwriting.
