Howard Zinn died on January 27, 2010, in Santa Monica from a heart attack. There was an outpouring of tributes from around the world and public events to commemorate his life and legacy. Zinn is survived by his daughter, Myla Kabat-Zinn of Northampton, Mass.; his son, Jeff Zinn, of Orleans, Mass.; and five grandchildren.
