Back in America, Antuofermo scored useful wins over the likes of big-punching Eugene Hart (KO 5) and he also bested super-tough former three-time world title challenger Bennie Briscoe (UD 10). Those wins helped him earn a shot at the undisputed middleweight champion Hugo Pastor Corro in Monte Carlo in June 1979.
