Anselm Salomon von Schwartz Rothschild, Baron Rothschild (29 January 1803 – 27 July 1874) was an Austrian banker, founder of the Creditanstalt, and a member of the Vienna branch of the Rothschild family.
Anselm's introduction to business was in Paris, where he served as his uncle James's apprentice. He entered the family partnership in Frankfurt and married into the English House on 11 September 1826, taking as his bride Charlotte, the oldest daughter of Nathan.

Nathaniel Mayer von Rothschild was born in Vienna on 26 October 1836, the son of Anselm and Charlotte. Nathaniel, and to a greater extent his brother Salomon Albert, ran the Viennese bank after the death of their father. His interests were much wider than banking.
