Poco tiempo después de su nacimiento Lô volvió con su familia a Senegal, donde se establecieron en la ciudad de Rufisque, cercana a la capital, Dakar.
Ismaël Lô (also Ismaël Lo; born 1956) is a Senegalese musician and actor. Life. Lô was born in Dogondoutchi, Niger on 30 August 1956, to a Senegalese father and a Nigerien mother. Shortly after Lo's birth the family returned to Senegal where they settled in the town of Rufisque, near the capital Dakar.

Músico y pintor, nacido en Níger en 1956, aunque pasó la mayor parte de su infancia y juventud en Senegal, donde creció musicalmente escuchando mbalax y discos de Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett o Jimi Hendrix. Estudió en la Escuela de Arte de Dakar y más tarde se unió al grupo Super Diamono, abandonándolo en 1984 para empezar su carrera como solista.
