En 2011 Michael editó el disco Temple of Rock que en un principio iba ser acreditado para MSG, pero que él mismo optó dejarlo para su carrera como solista. Tras ello y a fines de ese año fundó su nueva banda Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock, que conllevó a un nuevo receso de MSG desde entonces.
