10 de nov. de 2010 · You could also use "on" in this example: I called him on the radio, not on the phone. I always use "at" with numbers: Call me at 654-7709. I think "at" is most common with "extension": Call me at extension 329. Using "on" also sounds normal. PS I see that Swiss Pete was quicker on the draw.

3 de abr. de 2009 · My advice to non-native speakers : use "What do you call X". It is correct, it is natural, and it is the structure used by anglophones in 99% of cases. I do not believe that "How do you call X" is correct. Clearly certain other people do, but in my opinion they are in the minority, and if you are aiming to speak correct English, go with "what".

Is saying "I resisted sleep to do the call" grammatically correct? I know that we say "make a phone call" not "do a phone call", but I do think that the call here is more of a TASK to "do", not to "make"!
19 de may. de 2007 · Without any context, my understanding of "to call after" is in the case when this other person (she) has walked away, and some seconds later, you want to say something else to her, and you "call after her" from a distance. In Spanish, I would use "llamar", as Kungli said. Ella salió caminando, y de repente, la llamé de lejos.

Si es en lenguaje formal... por ejemplo al describir una situación riesgosa en una planta (seguridad industrial) se dice: a near miss. En lenguaje formal: a close call se podría traducir como: una situación comprometida o una situación muy riesgosa.
