The Atlanta six-piece Disturbing tha Peace was formed by Shawnna, Lil' Fate, Tity Boi, I-20, and Jay Cee. Protégés of Ludacris, whose pair of multi-platinum albums resulted in a label deal for the group, they released their debut, Golden Grain, on Def Jam South in early 2003. The label was founded by Ludacris and his manager, Chaka Zulu, when Ludacris failed to get a record deal.
