Després d'audicionar a The X Factor i ser acceptat, la jutgessa Nicole Scherzinger va suggerir que Liam formés part d'un grup anomenat One Direction juntament amb Harry Styles , Niall Horan, Zayn Malik i Louis Tomlinson .
