Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds ist eine australische Rockband, die 1983 vom Sänger Nick Cave, dem Multiinstrumentalisten Mick Harvey und dem Gitarristen Blixa Bargeld nach Auflösung von The Birthday Party gegründet wurde. Der Name basiert auf dem Kriminalroman The Bad Seed von William March, der 1956 unter dem gleichen Titel – deutsch: Böse Saat – verfilmt wurde.
W 1996 Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds wydali Murder Ballads. Zawarta jest na nim piosenka „Henry Lee”, duet ze znaną brytyjską piosenkarką rockową PJ Harvey (z którą Cave miał przelotny romans w tym czasie), oraz „Where the Wild Roses Grow”, duet z australijską piosenkarką pop Kylie Minogue.
