  2. Native speaker-that’s an interesting observation. In your example, replying “Yes I am,” is natural, “Yes I’m,” is very odd-sounding. On the other hand, replying “Yes I’m just tired” would also sound normal. I’m not sure I have an explanation-other sentences end with contractions all the time.
