Penguins have developed several defense mechanisms to protect themselves from predators, including seals. When on land, penguins will form large groups, making it difficult for a seal to single out an individual. Penguins may also use their beaks to peck at a seal’s sensitive nose, eyes, or neck, causing it to back off.
