The red stripe down the trousers, also known as a “blood stripe,” varies in width depending on rank. Men wear black socks with shiny dress shoes. Women wear black pumps and may wear a skirt instead of trousers. All Marines wear a white peaked hat and white gloves.

Today, the blood stripe symbolizes honor and our Nation's eternal gratitude for all fallen Marines. EAGLE, GLOBE, AND ANCHOR. There is no better symbol for the purpose we serve than the emblem every Marine earns: The Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, which has represented the title every Marine has earned since 1868.
29 de jul. de 2021 · The “blood stripe” is steeped in Marine Corps tradition. According to the USMC Museum, the Marine blood stripe “commemorates those Marines killed storming the castle of Chapultepec in 1847.”
