Ronstadt had made her name in the '70s with brash, uninhibited folk-pop like “When Will I Be Loved” and “Blue Bayou,” and she later flirted with New Wave and jazz standards.

A wonderful complement to Linda Ronstadt's first mariachi album, "Canciones de Mi Padre." Every song is a gem—my favorite being the irresistibly danceable, galloping cut "Palomita De Ojos Negros." I used to poke fun at this "old-fashioned" music, but now I'm 100% a believer and fan. Music: 10, Recording: 10.
