Anne Murray was raised in the coal-mining town of Springhill, Nova Scotia.She studied piano starting at age 11, and at 15 she began two years of classical voice lessons with Karen Mills in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia.She also sang with a girl trio, The Freshettes.
