With more than 70,000 books in its collection, covering all the subjects studied at undergraduate level, the Kathleen Major Library at St Hilda's College is a valuable resource for students and researchers. To ensure undergraduate students have access to the resources they need, the library holds multiple copies of the most frequently used items.
St Hilda’s College was founded in 1893 as a hall of residence of women, and remained a women’s college until 2008, making it the latest and last college to allow all genders. The college stretches along the River Cherwell, and beautiful views of the river and Botanical Gardens can be seen from the college.

Classes and tutorials are usually held at St Hilda’s or at one of the other constituent colleges of the University. Many of these are between 5 and 10 minutes walk from St Hilda’s; practically all are within a 10-minute cycle ride. History and the College community.
