Through physical training and performance, every aspect of the actors’ instrument is engaged, encompassing extensive movement, speech, voice and sensory work.
As a regionally and nationally accredited two-year acting conservatory, The Academy offers associate degrees at its two campuses—and bachelor’s degree options at colleges and universities across the United States.
We understand that an education is a significant undertaking for any family, and our goal is to make sure it remains manageable for you. We offer generous scholarships, need-based aid and financing plans for families at all income levels—in fact, approximately 90 percent of Academy students receive some form of financial aid.

The American Academy of Dramatic Arts was born. October 3, 1884: The Academy first opened its doors at The Lyceum Theatre in Manhattan. One hundred and eighteen eager students would soon become The Academy’s first graduating class and the history of acting in America was changed forever.
