Up until last year the school was called Savio Salesian Academy and its future was uncertain as the school was faced with Inadequate Ofsted judgements, low outcomes, falling rolls and a building that was not fit for purpose.
The Salesian Academy of St John Bosco is dedicated to delivering an ambitious, coherent curriculum that embodies the Salesian values of respect, understanding, affection, and humour. We aim to provide an outstanding education that has an emphasis on high academic achievement, whilst being inclusive of all.
The Salesian Academy of St. John Bosco also proactively seeks to build relationships with these partners as we plan our Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme activity throughout the school year to ensure that providers have multiple opportunities to speak to pupils and their parents across years 7-11.

In 1887, the first Salesians came to England. In 1964, Salesian College - a boys Grammar School with 64 pupils opened on Stanley Road, Bootle. In 1966, the Salesian College of St John Bosco opened on our current site, eventually becoming The Salesian Academy of St. John Bosco in 1987 after an amalgamation with St Augustine's Girls School.
