10 de feb. de 2024 · Thomas Rolfe was born in Virginia in 1615, the first recorded birth of a child born to a Virginia Indian princess and an English gentleman. The child was presumably named after the Governor, Sir Thomas Dale. His mother, Pocahontas, had converted to Christianity in 1614 and taken the name Rebecca before she married John Rolfe, an English gentleman planter in Virginia.

6 de sept. de 2023 · Thomas Rolfe was educated in England and Virginia. He returned to Virginia in 1635 and married Jane Poythress, the daughter of a wealthy planter. They had one child together. Also Read: Famous Colonists of Colonial America. Thomas Rolfe was a successful planter and businessman. He also served as a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses.
15 de feb. de 2021 · Thomas Rolfe had become ill at the same time as his mother and was left in the care of someone at Gravesend until he could be retrieved by Rolfe’s brother. Rolfe returned to Virginia, married his third wife in 1619, and died in 1622, probably in the Indian Massacre of 1622 which started the Second Powhatan War.
