Nathalie Delon wurde als Francine Canovas als Tochter eines Offiziers in Marokko geboren. Die Familie übersiedelte später nach Nizza. Delon kehrte 1957 nach Marokko zurück, wo sie 1958 zum ersten Mal heiratete. Aus der Ehe stammte eine Tochter. Nach ihrer Scheidung zog sie 1960 nach Paris, wo sie zunächst als Cover Girl tätig war.
