The Verve (Originally named "Verve") was formed in 1989 in the English city of Wigan by founding members and fellow college students Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones, and Peter Salisbury. They composed most of their early songs through extensive jamming sessions, and were described as having a captivating psychedelic sound.
