Udo Beyer (born 9 August 1955) is a former East German track and field athlete who competed in the shot put. Beyer has admitted to knowingly taking part in doping while he competed for East Germany. He was a Stasi informer under the codename "Kapitän".

Udo Beyer is a former East German shot putter who won gold and bronze at the 1980 Olympics and set three world records. He also competed for reunified Germany in 1992 and was revealed as a doping athlete after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Beyer set three shot put world records: 1978 (22.15), 1983 (22.22), and 1986 (22.64). His numerous titles include the 1978 and 1982 Europeans, the 1977/1979/1981 World Cup, the 1977/1979/1981 European Cup, along with 11 East German titles between 1977-87.
