Van Hunt is well-known for singing the cover of the "Sly & the Family Stone" (American band of the 1960s) song, "Family Affair", which appeared on the 2006 tribute album Different Strokes by Different Folks. He sang the song along with John Legend (American Singer) and Joss Stone (British Singer) which earned them a Grammy Award.
A guest spot with Joss Stone and John Legend on "Family Affair", from the Sly & the Family Stone tribute Different Strokes by Different Folks, would earn Van Hunt his first Grammy Award in early 2007.
