Sir Gerald Arthur "Gerry" Whent CBE (1 March 1927 in Ferozepore, India – 16 May 2002 in Chilton Foliat, Wiltshire) was the founder and first chief executive of Vodafone.

Ernest Harrison junto a Gerry Whent decidieron comenzar a fabricar radios militares. Esta empresa nace en el año 1980 bajo el nombre de Grupo de Electrónica de Racal. Esta incipiente compañía solamente se dedicaba a fabricar radios para el ejército.
En enero de 1997, Gerald Whent se retiró y dejó a Christopher Gent como CEO de la compañía. Ese mismo año, Vodafone cambió su logotipo.
