Baylor University is a private Baptist Christian research university in Waco, Texas. Baylor was chartered in 1845 by the last Congress of the Republic of Texas. Baylor is the oldest continuously operating university in Texas and one of the first educational institutions west of the Mississippi River in the United States.

Baylor University, based in Texas, is the oldest continuously operating university in the region and one of the largest Baptist universities in the world. The university occupies a large 1,000-acre campus on the banks of the Brazos River in Waco.
