John Andrew Grande (January 14, 1930 – June 3, 2006) was a member of Bill Haley 's backing band, The Comets. [1] Life and career. Born in South Philadelphia, Grande played piano and accordion with Bill Haley and the Saddlemen, later known as Bill Haley & His Comets, from 1949 to 1962-63.

Mini Bio. Johnny Grande joined Bill Haley and the Saddlemen in 1949 as piano player, accordionist and musical arranger. He was an original partner in the creation of The Comets in 1952 and played on "Rock Around the Clock." His Latin-lover looks made him one of the more popular members of the Comets during their many tours of the U.S. and Europe.
