Nathan Mironovich Milstein (January 13, 1904 [O.S. December 31, 1903] – December 21, 1992) was a Russian-born American virtuoso violinist. Widely considered one of the finest violinists of the 20th century, Milstein was known for his interpretations of Bach 's solo violin works and for works from the Romantic period.
18 de feb. de 2012 · Nathan Mironovich Milstein was born in 1903 in Odessa (then in Russia but now in the Ukraine). His first violin lessons took place when he was just 7 years old in Odessa with the eminent teacher Piotr Stolyarsky who, a little later, taught David Oistrakh, and later still, his son Igor.
Born on 31 December 1903 in Odessa, that melting-pot and forge of musicians, Nathan Mironovich Milstein was the third of seven children of a reasonably prosperous merchant. He studied the violin with two famous pedagogues: Pyotr Stoliarsky in Odessa and Leopold Auer in St Petersburg.
