If that had been the ending, it would have neutered the storyline about the brothers growing together and fixing their relationship. Since that arc is more or less the spine of the story as a whole, I feel like this ending would leave the movie feeling pointless.
Spoiler 1: in the film, a cult member says that he pulled Justin and Aaron out of a burning car after their mom had a wreck. Its safe to assume the crash was right next to Camp Arcadia. Spoiler 2: The film concludes with Justin and Aaron speeding away from Camp Arcadia. We dont see them exit the car or even get far from the camp.
