The Tubes' third album Now (1977) was an attempt to write less satirical songs with the band sharing song writing duties with Bill Spooner. It was recorded while the band was playing a special engagement on weekends at The Whisky in Los Angeles.
Bill Spooner was a key songwriting contributor and musical director for the band until his departure in 1987, and it was his brainstorming and conceptualizations that helped launch The Tubes into the consciousness of the rock music world.
