A good example is the diary left by the third daughter of Jonathan and Sarah Edwards, Esther Edwards Burr (1732–1758), as she is known now.
Esther Edwards Burr was the third of 11 children of Sarah Pierrepont and the prominent minister, Jonathan Edwards. At the age of twenty she married Aaron Burr, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Newark, New Jersey, and later a founder and second president of Princeton College.
