Manuel "Guajiro" Mirabal (born 5 May 1933) is a Cuban trumpeter, best known for his work with the Buena Vista Social Club. [1] Biography. "Guajiro" learned trumpet at the age of 18 and began playing professionally in 1951. He joined the jazz band ‘Swing Casino’ in 1953 before forming the ‘Conjunto Rumbavana’ three years later.

Biography. The solo album from trumpeter Guajiro Mirabal was one of the last of the Buena Vista spin-offs in 2004, yet it was warmly welcomed as one of the best. And no wonder, it’s the work of one of Cuba’s greatest musicians paying tribute to the country’s golden age of dance music. His nickname ‘Guajiro’ means ‘country boy’ or ‘rustic’.
