Eve Hartling's paintings record specific impressions of her daily surroundings. They are observations of a place, a feature in a landscape, of how something looks at a time of day, a shadow cast, a slant of light. The impressions are of a transient nature that become captured through paint.

18 de ago. de 2017 · Jale was formed in 1992 by Eve Hartling, Alyson MacLeod, Jennifer Pierce, and Laura Stein. Along with Sloan, Eric’s Trip, and others, Jale was part of the “Halifax scene” that caught the attention of labels in the early ‘90s.
Dubbing themselves Jale as an acronym of the first names of guitarist Jennifer Pierce, drummer Alyson MacLeod, bassist Laura Stein and guitarist Eve Hartling (all of whom shared vocal and songwriting chores), the group borrowed their instruments from friends and played their first show less than five weeks after forming.
