Jannick "Janik" Top is a French bass player and composer, born in Marseille. Top plays the electric bass and the cello . In the 1970s, he was a lead member of the influential zeuhl band Magma, along with Christian Vander and Didier Lockwood.

Jannick Top, né le 4 octobre 1947 à Marseille, est un compositeur, arrangeur, bassiste et violoncelliste français. Il accompagne, en studio et sur scène, de nombreux artistes français et internationaux, et a été membre groupe de rock progressif Magma en 1973, 1974 et 1976.
French bassist and cellist, composer, arranger and musical director, born in Marseille on October 4, 1947. Jannick Top took academic music lessons at the end of the 1960s, studying piano and cello. At the age of 16 he won first prize for piano and first prize for cello.
Jannick Top (aka Jannik, Janik, etc.) was born in Marseille, but moved to Paris after a classical Russian education in piano, cello and the more theoretical side of music, becoming acquainted with many jazz-oriented musicians and recording an album with Troc before joining Magma in 1973.
Jannick a toujours continué sa propre recherche musicale, dans une démarche plus underground et avant-gardiste au sein des groupes Espace 4, TROC, Magma, Allien Quartet, Fusion, Decybell, STS, et a créé le label indépendant Utopic Records.
