Hon har varit en av 2010-talets främsta kvinnliga simmare inom fjärilsim och frisim, med ett stort antal VM- och EM-guld. Med 91 medaljer på internationella mästerskap är Sjöström den mest medaljbehängda europeiska simmaren genom tiderna.
The Swedish swimmer dominated the sprint event at the World Aquatics Championships 2024, finishing just outside her own world record. She also defended her 50m butterfly crown and claimed silver in the 100m fly at Tokyo 2020.
