Yehudi Menuhin nació en Nueva York el 22 de abril de 1916 en el seno de una familia de origen judío ruso, y muere en Berlín el 12 de Marzo de 1999. Desde temprana edad demostró un especial talento para el violín, comenzó a estudiarlo a la edad de cuatro años con Sigmund Anker, su primer maestro.
