Yūzō Saeki (佐伯 祐三, Saeki Yūzō, 28 April 1898 – 16 August 1928) was a Japanese painter, noted for his work in developing modernism and Fauvist Expressionism within the yōga (Western-style) art movement in early twentieth-century Japanese painting.
The Museum houses the most substantial collection of works by Saeki Yuzo (1898–1928). Born in Kita Ward of Osaka City, Saeki studied at Kitano Secondary School (now Osaka Prefectural Kitano High School).
Saeki Yuzo, a painter who resided in the cities of Osaka, Tokyo, and Paris a century ago, lived a short but remarkable life. Working as a painter full-time for just four short years after first arriving in Paris in 1924, Saeki developed his own unique style of painting urban landscapes.
