John Sinclair is a Michigan-born poet, music critic, manager, promoter, and activist who co-founded the White Panther Party and the Detroit Artists’ Workshop. He has published and recorded prolifically, and lives in the Netherlands.

Most of his pieces include musical accompaniment, usually by a varying group of collaborators dubbed Blues Scholars .
