El Observatorio de La Silla es un observatorio astronómico situado en Chile que cuenta con dieciocho telescopios. Cinco de ellos fueron construidos por la organización Observatorio Europeo Austral ( European Southern Observatory , ESO), mientras que otros se mantienen en parte por la ESO.
El Observatorio La Silla está ubicado en la comuna de La Higuera, en la provincia de Elqui, Región de Coquimbo a 156 kms. al norte de La Serena. El camino de acceso al observatorio está en el kilómetro 595 de la carretera Panamericana Norte y se eleva por sobre los 2.400 mts. sobre el nivel del mar en una zona libre de contaminación lumínica.
