24 de sept. de 2023 · My late uncle, Richard Zakia, was a friend of Ansel Adams and helped out numbers to the Zone System in the early 1970's. He told me that AA had a wicked sense of humor and this is most likely a fun portrait he posed for. No doubt the scowl is the result of the "small format" camera that he is holding.

Why else is this a Golden Age of B&W Photography? So the Monochrome’s beautiful files can only be the start of the equation.

I've seen original prints from LF negatives printed very big indeed and I would never mistake them for 35mm or 6x6 enlargements (they were Adams prints). I'd love to see Clyde Butcher's really big prints, which emphasises to me that the quality of the printing is also a substantial factor: a really skillful darkroom worker will make a better print from 6x6 than an average one will make from 8x10.
14 de nov. de 2013 · Thanks guys for the input - I think I'd rather get the square hood and trim it because I am not a collector and in the Ansel Adams book, "the camera" he says square shaped hoods are better than round ones. Has anyone ever used the more common PH-s52mm hood designed for the 28mm 3.5 lens on a 24mm 2.8 lens?? Thanks again!
