Since then, Baku's Art School, which Azimzade had directed from 1928-1938, was named after him. Most of Azerbaijan's greatest artists have received training in this institution. They tribute Azim as being one of the first major artists in their country and for his social conscience.
The Azerbaijan State Art School in Baku, which he directed during 1932-37, was named after him. A street in Baku bears his name, while the first house museum opened in Azerbaijan, at Dilara Aliyeva Street, is dedicated to his life and works.

Boyukaga Yahyayev graduated from State Art School named after A. Azimzade in 1973, and Leningrad Art Institute named after V. Muxina in 1978. Since 1992 he had been working as art editor of Gunash - Sun magazine.
