Gerard Edmund Lynch (born September 4, 1951) is an American lawyer who serves as a senior United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Gerard E. Lynch ’75 is a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, to which he was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2009. From 2000 to 2009, he served as a U.S. district judge for the Southern District of New York.
Judge Lynch is a federal appellate judge appointed by President Obama in 2009. He is also a professor of law at Columbia University, where he teaches criminal law and procedure, constitutional law, and legal ethics.
