27 de ago. de 2013 · So in general the freshman sophomore junior senior nomenclature is not used in Canada. It tends not to be used in high schools other than Grade 12 is senior year. Different school districts divide the grades differently. When I was in school, high school was typically grade 8 to 12 so five grades. We didn't have middle schools.

Si se llaman, Poncha, a las dos se dice Poncha, o se dice Ponchita a la niña. Se puede decirla "Poncha junior," "Poncha the second" o "little Poncha" para clarificar, pero normalmente no se usa.

We do use "fresher" (no 'man') for a first-year university student (never in high school), but it tends to be limited to introductory events held near the beginning of term. After that, they're just first-years.
15 de feb. de 2007 · Senior. Just some comments on this old thread. The above terms do not need to be capitalized. We use fresh man to refer to both men and women (boys and girls). The above four words are also used to refer to the grades in high school, if a four-year school. I attended a three-year high school, so I started as a sophomore.

"senior" - fourth year. But those terms are more for high school, people in college just say "__th year". As bibliolept mentioned, these terms are also used at college or university level.
