Susie Ibarra (born Anaheim, November 15, 1970) is a contemporary composer and percussionist who has worked and recorded with jazz, classical, world, and indigenous musicians. One of SPIN's "100 Greatest Drummers of Alternative Music," she is known for her work as a performer in avant-garde , jazz, world, and new music. [2]

The line-up is limited : Susie Ibarra on percussion, Steve Gorn on clarinet, sax and bansuri, Baikida Carroll on trumpet, and of course Lindberg on bass. Often only a few of the musicians play together at the same time, creating a very spacious feeling, yet also one of proximity.
Dirge-like flute, trumpet and arco bass enter, voicing sliding Oriental tones against Ibarra’s luminous rhythmic clusters. Lindberg later moves forward for a brilliant flamenco-style bass extemporization that emphatically states his virtuosity with bow and coarsely callused fingers.

Although two of his compositions here directly refer to Gottschalk and Ives, Lindberg doesn’t crassly invoke any of their music. RUMINATIONS is definitely a suite though, with the first and final tracks assuming a circular continuum.
