I welcome your advices: where are the good places to take photos of trains ? has trainspotting in UK good reputation to staff and TOCs ? should I ask for authorisations to make some photos...

  2. 18 de sept. de 2024 · Hi there, I'm very new to the hobby but have been uploading my captures to YouTube for the last week or so. I have been viewing locomotives from various different spots as the stations can be a bit overcrowded. I am wondering if anyone else does this? From bridges etc rather than stations.

  3. 6 de abr. de 2017 · Hi all, Please forgive me if this has been covered already, but I am relatively new to here. I have recently acquired an interest in taking note of the class numbers i.e. 350, 390, 22x, 395 etc. I have used the national rail station guide but hard to tell with very limited information i.e...

  4. 4 de feb. de 2013 · I have only just started to take trains seriously. As I now like taking note of traffic on my nearest train spotting post (Marykirk) I have managed to convince my dad to take me around the UK on a train spotting expedition but I need to get some suggestions on where to go and where to stay...

  5. 15 de mar. de 2019 · When I go trainspotting, I use multiple different ways of recording the units and engines that I have seen. I use specially-made books (think Ian Allan), notebooks and my mobile phone, but I am interested to hear your views. I have seen other similar topics on the forum but they weren't what I wanted.-Peter

  7. 22 de abr. de 2017 · I don't really know any areas for good old fashioned sit-in-a-field-in-the-rain type trainspotting anywhere, and as I'm based in the west country are there any good spots with lots of traffic around here? Wales wouldn't be a stretch, I have an unhealthy obssession with Pacers at the moment...

  8. 15 de may. de 2018 · Why is Doncaster the last stronghold of trainspotters? While you will see the occasional spotter/photographer at most main line stations, Doncaster seems to always have around 20 people on its platform ends. There were also at least three on Bently station today spotting which given Doncaster...

  9. 9 de sept. de 2013 · Hi all, I'm a new member. I'm 45, haven't been train spotting since a kid. I used to get an Ian Allan book with a all the numbers and neatly underline them. Is there such a book now? If so, which is the best please? Any tips gratefully received. Thanks.

  10. 25 de jul. de 2012 · Trainspotting is the number 1 thing people are ashamed to admit above anything else. It's because the average response you'd get from most people is horrendous. However if I wasnt into trains I probably wouldnt have this job now that pays £30k basic or £50k with overtime, and had this just 2 years into my working career.
