4 de ene. de 2011 · Black-necked Stilts (Himantopus mexicanus) dancing on the mudflats. American White Pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) are absolutely huge! Some of the most amazing birds on the water, Black Skimmers (Rynchops niger) Dare to be different. Everyday this bird can be seen hanging out at the marina in this pose.
17 de jun. de 2010 · I found this snake as a fresh DOR last week on the southern Caribbean coast of CR (Puerto Viejo) and can't seem to find a match in my field guide (Guyer & Donnelly: Amphibians and Reptiles of La Selva, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean Slope).

7 de jun. de 2010 · Don, Very nice images! I assume that by distortion on the outside margins at 10-14mm you are referring to the stretching out of subjects that occurs as you approach the edge of the frame, especially in the far corners.
8 de jun. de 2010 · Ptrick127 - your picks didn't come through for some reason, but it is indeed possible. They do tend to sit in the same spot, often for days and even weeks at a time.
11 de sept. de 2022 · 1) Suena Azul, a lodge in Horquetas. We spent a single night while awaiting the tractor ride to Rara Avis the following morning. 2) Rara Avis, a remote lodge on the southern boundary of Braulio Carillo NP. This was a beautiful place located at about 700m elevation on the Caribbean flank of Volcan Barva. It was an extremely wet place.

Costa Rica, my trip first out of North America, was a montage of exploring, chasing wildlife, and spending time with my girlfriend before she left for three months to Nicaragua. Therefore, this account will be a mix of herping and other photos.
