If a friend of mine was hosting her own baby shower, I'd probably feel embarrassed that I had not stepped up to the plate, to offer to host it for her. Also, that woman who hosts her own shower, may have attended her own friends showers when they were getting married and having babies, and bought them gifts.

But again if you’re going for something less traditional, have it whenever you want! It can be co-ed or women only.
